NTL BOYS' SOCCER: NEB SEES PLENTY SCORE IN WIN OVER TOWANDA (2025-09-12)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — NEB rolled past Towanda 7-0 during NTL boys’ soccer action Thursday.

The Panthers had seven different goal scorers on the day with Ben Ellis, Dan Barrett, Tyler Kuhn, Carson Perkins, Anthony Pousen, Eli Stanton, and Dayton Russell all found the back of the net.

Kuhn and Stanton had two assists each with Barrett and Pousen also getting assists.

“A sloppy first 20 minutes in which Towanda beat us to the ball, won control, and out right wanted it more than we did,” said NEB coach Scott Merritt. “But the back four and Gavin Puza in goal showed up from the start, and kept us out of terrible trouble.”

NEB out shot Towanda 22-7 and had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

Ellis had the first goal with 15:10 on the clock in the first half followed by Barrett scoring two minutes later. Kuhn hit one just 2:19 before the half to go up 3-0.

“Ben Ellis got the first goal off a Tyler Kuhn helper, and that lit the flame and woke us up,” Merritt said. “Towanda did a fantastic job of transitioning back and closing all the middle lanes both straight on and at the angles, and coupled that with some of our poor ball movement throughout the process, and it was giving us fits. But we finally woke up and played around the clogged areas and completed passes properly. A big night from several including Anthony Pousen, Tyler Kuhn, and Eli Stanton both defensively, and offensively.”

Just over five minutes into the second half Perkins scored, followed by Pousen scoring at the 26:00 mark.

Stanton hit a penalty kick with 16:42 on the clock, followed by Russell the final goal at 6:09.

Blaiz Nichols had 14 saves for Towanda as Puza had seven saves for NEB to get the clean sheet.
