NTL FOOTBALL: TOWANDA FALLS AT WELLSBORO (2025-09-13)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — An injury to quarterback Reese Sluyter derailed Towanda in their 33-12 loss to Wellsboro during NTL football action Friday.
It was a 19-12 contest when the Hornets used two fourth quarter touchdowns to pull away.
Before getting hurt Reese Sluyter ran for 117-yards on 17 carries while going 6-for-12 for 41-yards through the air.
Curtis Maynard had three carries for 18-yards and a score while hauling in two catches for 29-yards. Joey Montonya chipped in with eight carries for 15-yards.
Griffin Morral had 112-yards and a score on the ground for the Hornets while going 7-for-13 for 190-yards and two touchdowns in the air.
Marek Mascho added 88-yards rushing and a touchdown on 15 carries, while Reed Richardson also had a touchdown run.
Kody Enck hauled in four catches for 133-yards and a touchdown, while Max Mascho had a 50-yard touchdown catch.
The Hornets jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter as Richardson ran in a score from 8-yards followed by Morral’s 50-yard scoring strike to Max Mascho.
Maynard got Towanda on the scoreboard with a 7-yard run midway through the second quarter, followed by Brayden Spencer hitting a 27-yard field goal to make it 13-9.
A Marek Mascho 11-yard touchdown run just before the half put the Hornets up 19-9.
Another Spencer 27-yard field goal cut it to 19-12 with 4:49 left in the third.
However, in the fourth Morral hit Enck for a 29-yard pass play into the end zone, followed by Morral icing the game with a 21-yard scoring run with 3:13 on the clock.
Towanda (0-4) hosts Troy next Friday.
