NTL GOLF: TOWANDA BOYS CLAIM D4 TEAM TITLE (2025-10-02)

Northern Tier Sports Report
MONTGOMERY — It was a roller-coaster day for Towanda boy’s golf at the District IV Team Championships Wednesday. They had a slow start, picked up steam in the middle, then held on late to claim the team title by four strokes.

The Knights shot plus-37 as a team, edging out Mifflinburg (plus-41).

Graham Welles led the team with a plus-5 77, while Boom Thompson shot a plus-7 79.

Owen Savercool was plus-10, finishing with an 82, while Baylee Clark was plus-15 with an 87.

Jason Wickwire was plus-21 (93) and Lucas Vincent shot plus-33 (105).

Welles didn’t have a birdie but finished with 13 pars on the day.

Starting on 14 he was plus-2 four holes in but once he got the turn at number-1 he had four straight pars.

After a bogey on five he rattled off three more pars. He had back to back bogeys on nine and 10, but ended strong with three straight pars.

Thompson had 10 pars on the day and a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole.

After three straight pars to open the tournament he took a double on 17 then followed that up with bogeys on 18 and one.

He would right the ship with pars on two and three, but then had bogeys on three of the next four holes.

Thompson finished strong, though, shooting even over the final six holes to break 80.

Savercool started on 13 and opened with a bogey. After two pars he had three straight bogeys to finish the back nine.

He shot 3-over on the first five holes of the front nine, but scored three straight pars after that. Savercool then went plus-3 over the final four holes to finish with eight pars.

Clark also started on 13 and started the day with five straight bogeys.

Then he entered his best stretch, going 1-under from 18-through-3 with a birdie on the par-5 second hole.

A double-bogey on the fourth hole ended that run and he finished out the front nine with five straight bogeys.

Clark would par the 10th hole, bogey the 11th, then finished with a triple-bogey on 12.

Wickwire had a birdie on the par-3 15th and added five more pars, while Vincent had one par on the day.

In individual qualifying Josh Maye made the cut for districts with an 86 - he needed an 88.

Maye opened with back to back double bogeys and was 7-over after the first six holes.

He found some consistency in beginning on 12 has he went 5-over on the next six holes.

Maye ended the back nine with a par, starting a run of three straight pars to give him some breathing room on his final three holes.

He got bogeys on three and fourth, then finished strong with a par on the fifth hole.

Hudson Stevens shot 103 with two pars.

Towanda will play in the sub-regional on October 14 at Williamsport Country Club.
