NTL FOOTBALL: TOWANDA FALLS TO TUNKHANNOCK (2025-10-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — Towanda lost 34-27 to Tunkhannock in a back and forth battle for the T-Bone during non-league football action Friday.
The Black Knights rallied late in the fourth quarter but couldn’t quite get over the hump as the Tigers led for most of the game.

Jazick Brown had nine carries for 55-yards to go with two receptions for 36-yards and a score, while Reese Sluyter had 16 carries for 31-yards, and two touchdowns.

Sluyter was also 2-for-7 for 36-yards with a score and pick.

Tanner Vanderpool added seven carries for 28-yards, Curtis Maynard had three touches for 18-yards, and Joey Montonya ran the ball three times for 14-yards.

The Tigers pounded out 222-yards on the ground led by Lucas Ciprich’s 29 carries for 115-yards and four scores. Andrew Lupinski added seven carries for 104-yards.

Under center Zach Latwinski was 7-for-9 for 105-yards with a score as Lupinski hauled in five catches for 67-yards and a touchdown.

Ciprich had the lone first quarter score, a 2-yard run as Tunkhannock went up 7-0 after the Callum Jones kick with 3:32 on the clock.

Latwinski hit Lupinski early in the second to make it 14-0 after Jerome’s kick.

Towanda responded at the 6:50 mark as Sluyter ran one in from 6-yards out with Brayden Spencer making it 14-7 with his kick.

With just 41 seconds left in the half Sluyter hit Brown for a 22-yard scoring hook-up as Spencer tied it up with the point after.

Tunkhannock retook the lead with a 9-yard Ciprich run at the 8:41 mark of the third quarter, though Towanda blocked the kick to make it 20-14.

The Tigers used a pair of early fourth quarter touchdowns to take control of the game as Ciprich had scoring runs of three and nine yards to go up 34-14 with 10:33 left to play.

The Black Knights rallied as Sluyter had a 1-yard run at the 6:19 mark to make it a 2-score game after Spencer’s kick.

Then, less than a minute later, Maynard found the end zone from four yards out to cut it to a 6-point game.

However, the Tigers kept them out of the end zone the rest of the way to secure the win, and the T-Bone.

Towanda will travel to Wyalusing for the Bronze Helmet next Friday.
